April's Eyes

When the fall and the winter's calling
And life is buried 'neath the snow,
When the northern wind descends
To make a claim in ice and cold,
You can always hear
In the voice of Mother Earth,
"See the truth that is foretold;
See with April's eyes and you'll understand."
April's eyes will change the wind
That sweeps across the land;
April's eyes will melt the snow
Which serves at her command;
April's eyes will nurse her mother and grow.
When the storm of the spring is howling
And shaking all that it beholds,
When the lightning cuts the tree
And thunder echoes with its roar,
You can always hear
In the voice of Mother Earth,
"See the truth that is foretold;
See with April's eyes and you'll understand."
April's eyes will track the rain
That's falling from the sky;
April's eyes will paint the rays of sun
She taught to fly;
April's eyes will lead them earthward again.
When the night is so long and lonely
And day may never come again,
What you thought was real and firm
Is slowly coming to an end,
You can always hear
In the voice of Mother Earth,
"See the truth that is foretold;
See with April's eyes and you'll understand."
April's eyes will bring the light
To all the darkest lands;
April's eyes will bring new life
To all which death commands;
April's eyes will bring you home again.
See with April's eyes and you'll understand.
